The Tate Duo will perform a global programme, taking the audience on a journey to far-flung corners of the world. Their concert will include music by Astor Piazolla (Brazil), Bela Bartok (Hungary), Ravi Shankar (India), and Francis Poulenc (France), including much of the varied and fascinating music written for the combination of flute and guitar.

Timothy Tate studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama graduating with a distinction in performance followed by a Masters degree. Whilst at college he won various awards including the BMus Year Prize for highest marks, and in 2005 he won the John Mills Prize for most outstanding performance in competition. He also studied with Sven Lundestad at the Norwegian Academy of Music, Oslo in 2003.

Tina Hitchens studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama graduating in 2004 with the BMus and MMus qualifications in flute performance. During her studies she achieved a number of awards, including a scholarship from the EMI Sound Foundation and the Daniel Emlyn Davies Award for Flute Playing. She was also a finalist in the Concerto trial competition 2004, and has given various concerts in Europe, America and South Africa.
